Reopening of the Alcazaba from September 23
From September 23, the Alcazaba will reopen to the public with a visitor route adapted to current safety requirements and to the conservation needs of the heritage site.
The reopening will allow visitors to once again access this area of theMonumental Complexthrough an itinerary designed in accordance with current conditions, ensuring both the safety of visitors and the protection and preservation of the site’s heritage values.
The visitor route may be modified as required by conservation, safety, and visitor management needs.

PARTIAL CLOSURE OF THE ANDALUSIAN MONUMENTS
Following the technical inspections, Maristán, Bañuelo and Corral del Carbón are now open. However, for safety reasons, Casa Horno de Oro and the Palace of Dar al-Horra remain closed.
Partial closure of the Golden Room Courtyard in the Nasrid Palaces
Due to restoration work on its roof, the Golden Curate Courtyard will remain under continuous protection, concealing the entrance facade to the Comares Palace.
Mobility Disruptions Due to Arboricultural Works
As part of the Forest Conservation and Improvement Activities Programme planned by the Board of Trustees of the Alhambra and Generalife for 2026, aerial inspections and maintenance works on large trees within the monumental complex will be carried out over the coming days.
As these works require the use of a 30-metre aerial work platform, vehicle and pedestrian mobility in the area will be affected. The planned schedule of works and the corresponding mobility measures are as follows:
1. 22–23 September: Aerial inspection and maintenance works on large trees
Location: Central road through the Gomérez Woods, from Placeta de la Media Luna to Puerta de las Granadas.
Working hours: 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Mobility measures:
- The route of the tourist train towards the city centre will be modified. From Puerta de la Justicia, the train must follow the exit road towards Plaza Arquitecto García Paredes (Hotel Alhambra Palace).
- Pedestrians will be diverted via Cuesta de las Cruces and Cuesta Empedrada.
- Cyclists will be diverted via Paseo del Generalife.
2. 24–25 September: Maintenance works on large trees
Location: Southern bus bay at the public car park roundabout.
Working hours: 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Mobility measures:
- Bus stops and passenger boarding and alighting will be concentrated in the northern bus bay of the car park roundabout. Buses will still be able to complete the full exit turn, as traffic on the lower section of the car park roundabout will remain open.
- Pedestrian access to and from the ticket offices will be via the slope on the northern side of the roundabout (the extension of the bus bay that will remain operational).
3. 28 September: Aerial inspection and maintenance works on large trees
Location: Road between Torre de las Cabezas and Fuente del Tomate.
Working hours: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Mobility measures:
- The routes of minibuses and the tourist train towards the city centre will be modified. From La Mimbre, vehicles must follow the exit road towards Paseo del Generalife and Plaza Arquitecto García Paredes (Hotel Alhambra Palace).
- The road between La Mimbre and Torre de las Cabezas will operate with two-way traffic. Synchronized traffic lights will be installed to regulate alternating traffic. This measure will affect taxis, delivery vans and private vehicles authorised to access Calle Real (hotels and businesses).
- Pedestrians will be diverted via the central road through Gomérez, Cuesta de las Cruces and Cuesta Empedrada.
- Cyclists will be diverted via Paseo del Generalife.
The works will be appropriately signposted and information notices will be provided. The work area will be cordoned off, and signs will be placed at both ends of the sections affected by the works. On-site personnel will also be present as a preventive safety measure.
We apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause. However, they are considered essential to ensure safe passage along a route that is extensively used by the public.
Important
- It is mandatory to present the original ID card or passport to access the monumental complex.
- Punctuality in access to the Nasrid Palaces.
- Carry the ticket with QR code in physical or digital format.
- Children under 12 must carry their own ticket (free).

5. The spaces included in your ticket can only be visited once.
6. If your ticket includes a visit to the Nasrid Palaces, the purchase or withdrawal of tickets at the ticket offices of the monument must be done at least one hour before the time assigned for the visit to the Nasrid Palaces.
7. It is not allowed to enter with backpacks of more than 40 x 40 cm.
8. It is not allowed to enter the Nasrid Palaces,the Generalife Palace and Alcazaba with baby carriages.This will be deposited in the storeroom enabled for this purpose.
9. It is not allowed to use the selfie stick, flash or tripod in the Nasrid Palaces.
10. The use of a tripod is not permitted.
11. Filming and photographic reports will require prior authorization from the PAG (The Board of Trustees of the Alhambra and Generalife).
12. It is not allowed to enter accompained by animals, with the exception of guide dogs, therapy animals or social aid. In any case, the animals must be identified according to current regulations.
13. Except in the authorized places, smoking is prohibited throughout the monumental complex.
14. Eating and drinking is permitted only in designated areas, outside the visit itinerary.
15. In the entrances and different spaces of the enclosure and during the visit, the instructions of the Control and Information Personnel, as well as the Security Personnel, must be respected.
16. All visitors must behave correctly during the visit, respect the spaces they visit, and avoid, as far as possible, disturbing the rest of the public.

18. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes, preferably flat and closed, to avoid falls, slips or trips: some of the visitable areas include irregular surfaces such as cobblestones, steps of different heights and dirt floors.
